Replace bearings craftsman atlas lathe
yes they are a pain if you change them allot.do you have a set of gears? if no then watch eBay, search atlas craftsman lathe, they are readily available. they are there to permit the change of revolutions of the lead-screw in relation to the the spindle itself. The other issue of having multiple gears on the rear of the head-stock for the ease of conversation we will call them change gears. Now the issue at hand here is probably solved by checking the length of the screw in the pulley, as it is for oil in the head-stock spindle. I have just completed a rebuild of a 109 6x18 craftsman atlas, The issue you may be having could be solved with the bearing from a roller blade wheel. I am trying to make a ball turning tool for it at present.
Then I would like to know what are any of you using for a tool holder to hold a drill to center drill work from the tool post? Is the indexer for gear cutting with a tool post grinder or what? the lathe wont run with it locked. Then I have an indexer pin, no ball and spring there unless its under the pin and its missing because I can move it freely. Seems to work fine with out it, should I put one there anyway? There is a set screw missing in the small pulley on the spindle. Where can I find one and what size is this ball? I think I could maybe find a spring?Īnd should the screw on the gear key ever need to be loosened for any reason? I have cut up all the miniature bearings I had in various sizes and none fit, either too big or too little. I am missing the ball and spring out of this set screw and the pin travels as it wishes. The other is in alignment of a pin that goes into the pulleys. One appears to lock down a key that goes into the pulley area? On the large spindle gear (under the cover) the gear has 2 set screws in 2 different locations. I have a few question about it that I am sure some one here would know? I have a small Craftsman lathe, dont know the size offhand, but I have to change gears on the rear to thread with or change speeds.
